VINTAGE DREMEL MOTO-SHOP SCROLL, JIG SAW - MODEL 57-2


Another tool for my new wood shop...VINTAGE DREMEL MOTO-SHOP SCROLL, JIG SAW - MODEL 57-2. I acquired this piece off of Ebay for $19.99! Works great according to the seller but does have a dent on the back. The seller said it does not affect the performance of the tool! I can probably straighten it out. Nice deal! :)

It has a spot to mount a sanding disc on the side. I just aquired one myself. Your blog is great!

i have been using this model since i was six it was my dads he was a fine scale modeler and used it to cut plastic and balsa i am 36 years old im using this saw to cut LEGOs it still works great after 20 years of storage

I just acquired one of these saws. Found it in a thrift shop for $9.00.
Don't seem to be smart enough to figure out how to remove the blade. Company does not have manuals anymore. Can someone give me instructions for removing the blade?

The blade is removed and replaced by pushing down on the upper Clevis attachment. As you push down, the blade will loosen and you can remove the lower end from the lower Clevis. BE SURE you install the blade with the teeth pointing down since the power stroke is during the downward cycle and if reversed, the blade will lift the work up versus holding it down.
I have had mine for about 20 years and it still works fine.

That takes me way back to my childhood days. Dad had bought me one, must have been in the late sixties. I still have it. It came with all the accessories and a set of moto woodworking plans and drawings.
Man, I sawed up a storm.

Hello there:
Does any one know how tu put together again the 57-2 ?, I split it apart for cleaning and painting and now I can not mount the arms inside because the force of the spring.

I have one that I found in my father's workshop - but no manual and can't figure out how to restore it. If I had access to a manual with a schematic of the parts, I could probably get it up and running again.

I found a 57608-4 a few years ago at the dump. It was rusted up & looking very sad. I took it home, took it apart, cleaned it up, gave it a coat of charcoal paint & not it looks & works great. I must admit the blades are hard to find. That's why I brought a couple of packets when I found them. They are Dremel 8029 1v2 Fine & 8030 2v2 Course blades. Pack of 5 blades. I kept the packet. It's a great little machine.

I found a dremel moto-shop model 571-5 scroll saw on craigs list for 25 bucks, works great but blades keep breaking...any idea as to why?

Broken Blades...check for rust in the blade movement. Mine had the same problem and I took some sandpaper and cleaned up the rust and then sprayed some WD40...it solved the problem. The rust was putting strain on the blade by creating fairly intense vibration. Hope this helps you out! Cheers!

Here in the Netherlands the machine was sold as Model 57607-4 but I assume it is identical to 57-2. Does anybiody know if this is correct?

Looks like you can get the blades on ebay in the US at least. No luck on the sanding disks yet.

Hello. I have the the Dremel Moto Saw 572 given to me by my father in law. I never had the need to use it until very soon to put together kits for a model railroad. It turned on the switch and there was a hum but no turning of the motor. I removed the motor and turned it on again and the motor works but I can not seem to understand how it makes the blade holder to move properly. Can someone tell me how to install the motor properly?

The upper blade holder is just a Spring Blade to retain tension on the blade during the up stroke of the lower blade holder which is cam driven to go up and down by the Motor.

I just bought one of these saws to help with my sons pinewood derby cars. Cutting doesn't seem to go too well and very slow. The blade feels sharp to the touch but what can I do to give her a tune up?

Best advice Tara is to go slow!!!! Also watch your hands when using..the fast moving blade can cut your quick!! Check to make sure all the screws are tight and spray all the moving parts down with WD40 and let it sit overnight. Hope this helps things! :)

Recently ran across this Dremel model 57-2 at thrift store. I removed the drive motor to service it and can not get the machine balance. Found nothing in the manual about this - Can someone help me with this or refer me to a site that may have information on the correct way to re-install the motor so that it will be properly balance.
