1981 Volvo 244 Hood Spring Replacement

My son and I replaced the bent hood spring on the '81 Volvo "Gramps"

and now we have the hood laying completely flat!  Seems as though Volvo hood springs can fatigue over time and it is easy to over-extend them if you are not careful. Since it was impossible to straighten the spring back out we gave up and ended up sourcing a good used one for $17 on Stealbay!  Easy to switch them out but my recommendation is to use a marker to outline 3 different places next to the original spring for accurate positioning of the replacement.  Otherwise...you could get things out of alignment and create a lot of headaches for yourself!!  Another thing fixed!  "Gramps" is happy!!
